I’ve been looking forward to this weekend because it’s overflowing with DIY projects. I have a terra cotta pot DIY and a DIY garden sign makeover on the agenda for weeks but I haven’t had the time to get to them. I just have all these supplies stocked in my laundry room and, weather permitting, I’m finally busting them out this weekend. I’m hoping to get the garden sign done first because I estimate it’ll take the least amount of time. Although, it’s covered in rust so who knows? I might find myself overwhelmed with wire brushes and sandpaper.
As soon as these projects are done, I’m moving on to Halloween festivities! I feel like I blinked and July disappeared. I just know the holidays are going to be here before I know it and I want to be prepared. I can tell you that pumpkin carving is definitely on the agenda this year because (and get ready for this…) I’ve never carved a pumpkin before. I grew up in Florida and for some reason we just always bought a pre-carved pumpkin or a fake one. I don’t know, I guess the heat spoiled the pumpkins super fast so we never bothered with it. This year it’ll be cool so I’m all about it. 🙂

1 // I love this Giant Vintage Star quilt pattern from In Color Order. I can’t quilt but nearly every other woman in my family can so I’m hoping to recruit someone to make this for me. It’d look beautiful on the bed in the guest room.
2 // Simply Stine shared the new Naked Heat palette from Urban Decay which kicked in my cravings big time! I’m not a huge make-up person but I’ll tell you what, that one is stunning and I’d totally wear it.
3 // Southern Bite featured a recipe for a S’mores Poke Cake. There’s no other explanation needed. I mean…S’MORES POKE CAKE.
4 // Dixie Delights shared insights into her trip to Washington D.C. and since Brandon and I are planning a weekend there soon you know I had to read it.
5 // Refined Revelry offered up some great tips for bloggers about writing and scheduling posts ahead of time. I’m usually planned at least 3 months ahead but she has some great info for those of you struggling to get your calendars planned.
6 // Eating Bird Food shared a variety of ways you can use cauliflower rice in your meals. It’s something we’ve started doing recently and it’s actually really great!
Books I Read
1 // Otis Redding: An Unfinished Life by Jonathan Gould has been on my TBR for months but I just now got around to reading it. It was so fascinating and really a tremendous read for anyone interested in music biopics or biographies.
2 // Hilltop Doc by Leonard Adreon was another great book I read this week. I shared a full review on the blog earlier this week which tells you exactly why this book meant so much to me and why you should read it too.
