Rustic breads, scones, and biscuits paired with fruit-jams, jellies, nut butters, savory spreads, pickles, and more--from the James Beard award-winning author of Sourdough. Bread and butter, toast and jam, scones and clotted cream--baked goods have a long tradition of being paired with spreads to make their flavors and textures sing.

Originally I downloaded the Toast & Jam eBook from Edelweiss. My cookbook shelves were getting a bit full and I’ve been trying to minimize how many new ones I bring into our home. I have a lot.  The Toast & Jam cookbook ended up blowing me away! I actually went out and bought the hardcover version because my shelves needed it. Brandon rolled his eyes at me but I know he could tell it was something special. Although, it literally is a book of toast and jam.

Maybe this book connected with me so powerfully because my family makes a lot of homemade jams. Maybe this book is just that good. I’m going with the latter.

Toast and Jam is the cookbook your kitchen is missing. This book is fabulous and you need to add it to your shelves asap!

Before picking up Toast & Jam, if someone would have told me that I’d be sitting down to write a glowing endorsement of a book about toast I’d have laughed in their face. It’s toast, y’all! People have been spreading jam on toast for ages. It’s hardly a revolutionary idea. Yet, somehow, this book turns it on its head. Suddenly, it’s not just strawberry preserves and grape jelly. It’s glorious combinations of dandelion jelly and olive oil scones or peach and tea preserves. Honestly though, it’s the vanilla marmalade that captured my attention.

Let me say that again – Vanilla. Marmalade.

If you’re not fighting off sudden cravings, you’re wrong. Somehow this book made me crave things I didn’t even know I was missing. I immediately went online and ordered a whole new case of mason jars and told my mom to schedule a family canning day. We have new jams to make!

Toast and Jam is the cookbook your kitchen is missing. This book is fabulous and you need to add it to your shelves asap!

Toast & Jam has also inspired me to start baking again. All I can think about suddenly are boozy scones and mimosas for Sunday brunch on my patio as I watch the sun lurk over the mountains. This book is everything a cookbook should be – gorgeous, inspiring, and easy to follow. Even a novice can follow these recipes. If there is a cookbook you didn’t know you needed, it’s this one. Toast & Jam is a total win.

Toast and Jam is the cookbook your kitchen is missing. This book is fabulous and you need to add it to your shelves asap!
