Three Things You Must Do to Become a Christian Blogger
There is no requirement that you must attend a Christian college before becoming a Christian blogger. There is no requirement that you graduate with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Bible Studies or Christianity. Jesus never said, “Thou shalt study my Word for 4 – 6 years in an institution of education before sharing the gospel with others.” It. Didn’t. Happen.
Now that the disclaimers are out of the way, I’ll admit I’m a bit perturbed. I received an e-mail late last night that wounded me a little bit.
It read as follows:
I don’t mean to sound harsh and I hope you don’t take my e-mail as such but your lack of respect for those educated in the Bible upsets me. You, and Christian bloggers like you, do not understand the time commitment it takes before you’re qualified to quote scripture. You, and bloggers like you, do not understand how much effort goes in to earning the degree necessary to be an ambassador for God. You, and bloggers like you, marginalize the years others of us have spent studying the faith and receiving the blessing required to transform lives through faith.
Your casual writings diminish our years of hard work. If you want to share your life, that’s fine but I do hope you pray over my message and reconsider talking about faith when you are not qualified to do so. Unless I am mistaken I do not believe you have earned your degree in Bible Studies. Please share only those things you are qualified to share and leave the sharing of the gospel to those that have earned it.
I’ll give you a moment to digest that. Go ahead…I’ll wait here.
Now, where do we begin? Why don’t we start in the Bible itself? That’s usually the best place to go when you need clarification or understanding about a topic or an issue. Since this person apparently believes that I had to attend a Christian college and receive a degree in Bible studies before God would approve of me sharing my faith and belief in Him, let’s see what God says about it.
And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. – Mark 16:15
Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples! – Psalm 96:3
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. – Matthew 28:19 – 20
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. – Romans 1:16
So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” – John 8:31 – 32
The list of verses goes on and on. In fact, second to behaving Christ-like the most important thing that Jesus wants us to do is share the good news of the gospel with others and build a community of faith in Him. We are meant to share the redemption found through the blood of Christ. It’s our purpose.
It’s not about your degree (mine is in Social Sciences and Public Administration in case you were wondering). It’s about your passion and understanding of the gospel. The only thing I would warn is to make sure that you have an understanding of the Truth in God’s word so as not to share a false message. God does warn, on multiple occasions, about the dangers and wickedness of false prophets.
Do you want to be a Christian blogger?
If so, there are only three things you need to do.
- Believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
- Read and understand the Truth of the Word of God.
That’s it friends. That’s all you have to do. That’s all that is asked of you.
If the spirit of Christ is within you then God asks that you share it with the world. If you put your fingers on the keyboard and the love of God pours from you then let it.
Do not ever censor your faith or deny someone the Truth of God’s love just because you decided to earn a degree in something other than Bible Studies. Do not keep the Truth of the gospel from others. If you have been saved, go forth and save others.
