8 Ways to Pray Over Your Husband
“so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love” – Ephesians 3:17
A few days ago I mentioned how I’ve started a habit of waking up each day with a grateful heart praising God for the blessings in my life. I’ve also started to set aside time during the day to say specific prayers for world events, personal struggles, or the people in my life. Right now my focus in prayer is for my husband and our family. After moving to a new city a year ago, losing our first pregnancy to miscarriage, struggling with family relationships, and now trying to conceive so we can begin our family, it’s safe to say that our emotions have been in yo-yo. It’s because of all that’s been going on in our hearts that I’ve started to take some time to sit back and focus on praying over my husband. Right now, these are my 8 favorite short prayers to pray over my husband during the day.
To Be Wise in God and Continually Seek Him
I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. – Ephesians 1:17
To Be Courageous and Strong
Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong – 1 Corinthians 16:13
To Know the Love of God
so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ – Ephesians 3:17-18
To Be Considerate in Our Marriage
Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers. – 1 Peter 3:7
To Keep God’s Commands
and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him. – 1 John 3:22
To Guard His Heart
My son, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your sight; Keep them in the midst of your heart. I love taking the time throughout the day to steal a moment and whisper a short prayer for my husband. It helps me feel connected to him even though we’re both working and doing our own separate things. It also helps me to feel connected to my husband’s spiritual journey and it delights me when I see God working in him.
