In case you missed it on Monday, my husband Brandon is joining me here at Far Beyond Love as a co-owner and co-blogger. If you want the whole scoop, you can read the explanation post right here. I’m really excited about this new journey for FBL and I am sure you are all going to love him just as much as I do. ❤
We have a couple of posts from him ready to go but I didn’t want to just throw him out on the blog without an introduction of sorts so the other night I sat him down for a Q & A so I could share this interview on the blog and you can all say hello.
BTW…sitting him down for the Q&A was really me sitting on the couch interrupting an NBA game to ask random questions. He was a good sport (pun intended). 😉
1 // What hobby would you get into if time and money weren’t an issue?
Hmm, ok so I know this is more about an issue of distance more than time or money but I’d say scuba diving and other marine hobbies. There is a lot of scuba stuff I’d do if we lived on the coast again; things like cave diving, ice diving, rec diving, safety diving, etc. It’s always been something that interested me.
2 // To what fictional place would you most like to go?
Fictional? I wouldn’t want to go somewhere boring but I also don’t want something ridiculously alien or dangerous so I suppose I’d say I’d want to go to Corusant. I could see that.
I’m sure that there would be people out there saying something like, “Would you want to be there Pre-Emperor Palatine or after?” To that question I’d say, “Whenever it was when it just looked like a general big-ass city with a lot of people. It might have changed throughout the timeline but I would want to go there when it just looked fun.”
Honestly though, I’d probably be hoppin’ ships so I could go to other places like Hoth. I’d probably skip visiting Dagoba though because Yoda’s gone and it’s just swamps and caves. I may go and check out Jar-Jar’s people and the other water stuff but, you know, Jar-Jar (insert eyeroll emoji).
(This answer is full of Star Wars references, just FYI in case you aren’t familiar)
3 // What is the most annoying habit that other people have?
That’s tough because I really don’t like judging people. I mean, habit? Ok, can I just say the habit of being an asshole or just treating people poorly in general. I don’t like seeing people being rude to a cashier, a server, or other person that works in the service industry and has to deal with crap all day. It bothers me.
It would just be a lot better if people made a habit of being nice. I mean, think about it, imagine if people made a habit of doing one major nice thing a day. When I say “major” I mean like spending $20 to feed someone (or $10 if that’s easier). Obviously, if you can’t afford to do it then don’t but make a habit of being nice. Ask yourself what one thing you could do today that may affect or change someone’s life. Sometimes it’s the easiest and simplest of things.
I just can’t stand when people act like they are indifferent to the degradation or suffering of other people. It’s messed up. How can someone be like that?
4 // What game or movie universe would you most like to live in?
Damn. Isn’t this like the same question I just answered? Oh, that one was visiting and this one is living in? Well, it definitely is not going to be Mortal Kombat although I enjoy playing the shit out of it. It won’t be DOOM either although I love it too. I guess I’d say Star Wars: Battlefront but that’s back to Star Wars again.
I know I have movie options but I don’t know. I’ll just stick with Star Wars if I have to choose to live in a different universe.
5 // Who’s your go-to band or artist when you can’t decide on something to listen to?
It’s usually not a band or artist. Most of the time it’s going to be some kind of continuous mix from a DJ I’ve met or found online. I’ll look for a continuous mix that is like an hour or more so I don’t have to change songs or be disrupted. I find a lot of them on SoundCloud or whatever. I like DJ Icey and The Hood Internet.
6 // Would you rather go hang gliding or whitewater rafting?
There’s a lot of work in whitewater rafting but that would be fun as hell. Although, there’s something about flying so I’d probably say hang gliding. That’d be cool. They’d both be cool but between the two I’d say hang gliding although I’m down to try either.
7 // Name one song or artist people would be surprised to learn that you like.
Most people that know me know that I listen to Hip Hop or DJ mixes so they’d be surprised to learn that I like stuff from the 80’s and I’m a fan of bands/artists like Pink Floyd, Def Leppard, Paula Abdul, and Linkin Park.
8 // If you could take a trip anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I’d take you to Greece. I know it’s always been a dream of yours to go there so I’d take you there.
9 // If you could make a 20 second phone call to yourself at any point in your life past or future, when would you call and what would you say?
(This question assumes you’re receptive to a phone call from yourself, you know, with time traveling being an unheard of real thing and all)
I don’t know and this is hard. I mean, do you realize what kind of position this puts a man in? Would you want to make a phone call that affects all of mankind? I mean, could you prevent a disaster or change history? If so, wouldn’t you want to do that?
The selfish thing would be to do something personal that affects your own life in the future. It’s tempting to tell yourself to save more money while you’re young or to be more responsible with life decisions. But, if you did that, how would that change your future? Would my life be what it is right now? Would I still be with you (my wife)? I wouldn’t want to do anything that changes my current life.
I guess, hypothetically, if I was forced to only affect my own life and I was guaranteed that I would still be with you today then I’d give my much younger self financial advice regarding jobs, savings, insurance, and investments.
