Magical Christmas Date Ideas

Ready to get in the holiday spirit? Try out these 10 magical Christmas date ideas with your honey this year.

Every year during the holiday season I can’t help but feel a little bit envious of those couples who are able to capture the magic of the season with their children. There is something so beautiful and so precious about seeing the holiday joy sparkling in the eyes of children. My husband and I do not have children so each year I commit to trying to find new ways to embrace the Christmas spirit and enjoy the season, just the two of us.

In the years past we have lived in small towns in Alabama and in Florida but this year we live in Atlanta so I feel like the holiday celebration possibilities are endless! I love finding ways to celebrate the holidays with my husband and I hope that you can use some of my ideas to squeeze in some alone time with your own special someone.

Here are my 10 favorite Christmas date ideas

and Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you!

Christmas Lights

Take a sightseeing tour and check out the Christmas light displays. The botanical gardens here has a huge display and a lot of neighborhoods put together some really amazing ones as well. Explore your area, create a holiday music soundtrack and get out there to see the lights!

Get in the Kitchen

Build a gingerbread house!  Men like to build things and women like to bake so this seems like a match made in heaven! If not, bake cookies, make gingerbread men or bake some sugar cookies and have fun decorating them.

Hit the Outdoors

Is it a winter wonderland where you live? Get out there and build a snowman together and don’t forget his magic hat! Create snow angels. Have a snowball fight. Feeling more athletic? Go skiing or ice-skating.

See a Show

Find your local theatre and go see a holiday show. Our theatre is performing The Nutcracker Ballet which is the perfect Christmas performance. Guys…you can handle it. There’s a rat King, a mouse army and toy soldiers so you’ll be ok.  Most theatres also  perform variations of A Christmas Carol so if you’re prefer to Scrooge it up, go for it.

Movie Night

Whip up some Christmas cookies, grab a mug of hot cocoa and settle in for a Christmas movie night. Short on ideas? Lucky for you I have this list right here ready to go!

Craft Time

Embrace your inner artist and make your own Christmas ornaments. There are SO many ideas on Pinterest for photo ornaments, glitter bulbs, burlap angels, etc. Go pinning and then get crafting.

O’er the Hills We Go

Go on a horse & carriage ride! The downtown area in Atlanta offers these year round but it is especially wonderful during Christmas. Take a warm blanket, cuddle up, and enjoy the sights. You can hear it in your head already can’t you? “Dashing through the snow…in a one-horse open sleigh…”

See a Parade

Go see a Christmas parade together. Complete with marching bands, Christmas songs, floats, balloons, hot cocoa and cookies there is nothing like a Christmas parade to bring the feeling of festivities to your hearts.

Go Caroling

Are you a fan of Christmas carols? I’m especially partial to Hark the Herald Angels Sing and Mary, Did You Know? but I love them all. Seek out a caroling community group or church group and start spreading the Christmas joy!

Celebrate the Birth of Jesus

Browse around and find a live nativity to attend. These shows are amazing and if you’ve never seen one they are a great way to spend an evening and remember the reason for the season.

What is your favorite way to spend quality time together during the Christmas season?
