My Birthday Wishlist (Omg…it’s in 48 hours)
I woke up Sunday morning with this sudden realization that my birthday is on Wednesday. OMG. This year it completely snuck up on me. I’m not sure I had fully processed that it’s already May so there is no way I was thinking that my birthday was here already.
So, yesterday my husband asked me if I had anything on my wishlist for this year and I wasn’t really sure what to say. We’ve been trying to downsize our possessions lately. We’re not at the point where we are going full-on minimalist but we are trying to be more conscious of what we buy.

That made it a bit tough for me to rattle off gift ideas at the drop of a hat. I tried to think of things that would be purposeful in our homes and lives and eventually built up a nice little wishlist on Amazon.
They make the books look like they are floating on the wall which I think is a really cool look. You can stack a couple of hardcover books and clean off the shelves.
We’ve been talking about a soundbar for months but we have struggled to commit to it. Finally, we decided that it would be a lot cleaner of a look in our living room and allow us to get rid of the stereo we’ve been holding on to. I hate cords and this lets us get rid of some of the ones we currently have hooked up.
I want to donate the seasonal dishes that we have now so I can downsize to one set of dishes that I use year-round. Doing that means I need something neutral and this is a great set. It’s white but with just enough of an etched-in design to keep them from being boring.
My kitchen / dining space right now is pretty much an epic disaster and it needs a lot of help. I love this entire collection so I told him he can’t really go wrong with any of these items.
Right now this at the top of my wishlist. I really want to work on my outdoor patio this summer so it is a space that we enjoy using. I have a chair, table, and rug already but what I really want for the space is a bench. This one, with the storage space underneath, is perfect.
And so on…
I think you get where I’m going with all of this. I’m trying to think productively this year and only purchase the items that will fulfill a purpose, even if that purpose is just being a spoon rest. I just don’t want to buy things just because they are pretty anymore. I want them to at least do something to make our lives easier.
I’m looking for new kitchen canisters right now so I can sort out my different sugars and flours. I’m also looking for other ways to maximize the space in my pantry/laundry room (since they share a space).
If you’re interested, you can view my entire Amazon wish list here. Oh, and now just for the fun of it let’s throw it back to my birthday, May 2010. 🙂
Now, only 2 more days then it is Happy Birthday to me!
